“Ms. Kim worked to connect with the people we served and focused on people’s strengths—on what they can do rather than what they can no longer do due to their illness. For example, one older woman in the program and her daughter told me that the mother didn’t want to come into the studio to work on art because “she doesn’t do art”. When Ms. Kim asked her what she does do, the mother replied that she likes to write, so Ms. Kim invited her into the studio to write. The woman wrote a beautiful poem about what it felt like to be in the studio and watch all the art being created around her.”

"Beth Kim led a ginkgo art therapy workshop for the Asians at Amazon HQ2 chapter and we all walked away feeling calm, creative and inspired. Beth cultivated a safe space for the group to engage in a new art activity that doubles as a tool for stress relief and regulation that can be practiced in days to come. We are grateful for Beth!”

“Beth is an amazing supervisor! Supervision with her was a breath of fresh air. She brings so much positivity and creativity to each supervision. She allows you to show up authentically each time and she always meets you where you are. She’s definitely on elf the most understanding and down to earth supervisors I’ve ever had. I guarantee you’ll leave each supervision having learned something new and/or with some kind of take away that can be applied professionally and personally”.

“Elizabeth is a passionate and avid learner who works tirelessly to bridge the gap in children’s mental and behavioral health through the power of art. Her dedication to helping youth, especially those who have faced adverse experiences, is truly inspiring. She has a remarkable ability to connect with children providing them with emotional coping strategies tailored to their needs-starting as young as three years old. Her approach not only fosters creativity but also equips young minds with the tools to navigate their emotions and interactions in a healthy way. The results of her work speak for themselves, as she has positively impacted the lives of many children, helping them build resilience and emotional intelligence. If you’re looking for someone who genuinely care and makes a lasting difference, Elizabeth is the one to trust!

“I invited Beth to speak about art therapy and provide techniques to approximately 60 master’s level counseling students at VCU. Beth was incredibly prepared, creative in her presentation, and demonstrated great depth of knowledge and skills in her profession. She provided case examples to help my students with understanding of art therapy and the crossover techniques that art therapy has with counseling. She utilized a hands-on mandala activity for my students to model self-care as well as gave them a tool to use with their own clients. A program evaluation at the end of Beth’s presentation included student responses such as:
-”I loved the case studies, the application activity, and the fact that Ms. Kim was extremely passionate about her work. It was inspiring and super motivating!”
-”I really enjoyed the presenter! She was very knowledgeable and case examples were great!”.
-Dr. Jennifer Gerlach, PhD, M.Ed, NCC
“Elizabeth is a member of my post graduate art therapy supervision group. From the beginning, Beth was an integral part of the group, offering sound therapeutic suggestions for the group members, as well as forwarding relevant art therapy information about job opportunities and professional development. She has a great deal of insight which she generously shares and almost immediately took on a leadership role in the group. Beth has a creative and thoughtful slant when structuring a group or devising a process. I have mentored many art therapist and every so often an extraordinary therapist with a uniquely creative outlook comes along…Elizabeth Kim is such a therapist.

“Beth has a wealth of experience and knowledge in the areas of Trauma, Art Therapy and Grief and Loss, finishing her certification in Grief and Trauma from the Wendt Center in 2021. Beth conducted several Grief Art Therapy workshops to counselors and school staff members due to the loss of a teacher due to unexpected health diagnosis. Beth provided a workshop using movement, dance, singing and creating “hope jars”, collaging tissue paper on glass jars. She received positive feedback for her workshop sharing that it was instrumental in providing an opportunity for addressing grief as a collective group and in their own individual “healing process.” Beth profoundly identifies as a Korean American and with that level of acceptance and cultural pride, she has the sensitivities and cultural respect for others.
